Come spend the day under the huge shade trees on Courthouse Square in downtown Golconda, IL.
The day's activities will begin at 8 a.m. with registration. Judging will be at 12 noon sharp with trophy presentation at 2 p.m. First, Second, and Third place trophies will be awarded in each class.

Ready, Set, Cook!
The Golconda Shrimp Festival kicks off in the morning with our always popular Farmers Market where the freshest fruits and vegetables as well as arts and crafts are available. Within one block there are two antique shops as well as a sweeping view of the Ohio River and the always popular Golconda Marina.
At noon the Shrimp Festival fires up with several venues of entertainment going deep into the night. Regional restaurants and non-professional chefs serve fresh prawns in different styles. It is not only a culinary adventure but a competition for the ‘Best of Show’. These treats are available, as well as all the sweets you can handle. Usually there is booth serving deep fried Oreos and Twinkies, a southern specialty. You may want to share them with someone since they are so rich!
The Mansion of Golconda - Revival of a Classic

The Mansion of GolcondaGolconda is the jewel sparkling on the Ohio. The crown jewel for Golconda is the former Riverview Mansion Hotel on Columbus Ave. But since 2005 the magnificent structure has set nearly abandoned and in disrepair. Many of the fixtures and historical contents were removed. The future of the grand old hotel looked bleak.
That's when Bill and Joyce Gillmore happened through town and saw that the house was for sale. Destiny had called and the Gillmore's answered. The couple is in the process of lovingly restoring the landmark and coverting it into a bed and breakfast and wedding chapel.
Work is well underway and the two are confident that the doors will be open for overnight guests, weddings, and special events in late summer 2008.
