FFA Tractor Show

Tractor owners and tractor lovers have been coming from far and wide to the Pope County FFA Antique Tractor Show.

The Eighth Annual show will be held in April 2010 on Main Street in Golconda.

Along with the tractor displays with tractors as early as 1920's, the show has competitive and fun-filled activities that are enjoyed by all ages.

All antique tractor owners are invited to bring their tractors to the show and all tractors are welcome, show ready or field ready.

Pope County FFA sponsors the popular event, which will commence at 9 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m.

Events scheduled for the tractor show include two parades of tractors and several competitive events.

In the Chain in the Box contest, the tractor driver must place a chain in the box by driving back and forth with a log chain attached to the tractor.

All the chains must be in the box or the driver is disqualified.

The Egg on a Cone contest challenges the driver to back the tractor toward a highway cone without dislodging the the egg balanced on it.

The fast paced Tractor Driving Contest follows the format of the FFA tractor driving contests.

A two-wheel trailer is attached to the tractor and the driver must maneuver through a course without making any errors.

The Slow Race has been growing in popularity each year and this year will be a race for each brand of tractor.

The winners of these races will then race each other for the overall winner of the Slow Race.

All tractors, except those with hydrostatic transmissions and creeper gears, are welcome to participate in this race.

Young tractor drivers can share in the fun and participate in the Pedal Pull and Pedal Race. Both pedal races are divided into classes based on the drivers age.
